What The Matt?

About once a month, someone asks to buy one of my seemingly unused matt domain names. As of this post, I own: matt.sh, matt.io, and matt.ai.

Yet, even with monthly lower-than-low lowball offers, I never sell.

Those domains have gone through various usage cycles over the years (and they all accept email), plus I never know if an upcoming project needs a new home, so I keep them around.

“Isn’t that unfair,” people asking to buy my domain names for retail ask?

“No, that’s not unfair,” I would say, if I ever replied to them, and here’s why.

Since the early 2000s, there has been a war of Matt domain names. Matt Mullenweg started it, I am a Matt Domain Warrior, and I shan’t acquiesce (I shant!).

Why don’t I feel bad hoarding three short domain names?
