Why BlazeIt
Storage accounting
BlazeIt can walk a bucket to calculate object count and bytes, then caches the result with its age and completeness. Recalculation is explicit because B2 bills the underlying list requests (this sounds trivial but the 'official' backblaze app refuses to show you total sizes of anything). Also, fetched sizes remain cached and visible in the UI until you refresh them again so your 'billed size calculation' requests survive as long as you need for continual comparison and visual usage.
Transfers
Uploads and downloads share an app-wide transfer center with byte progress, bounded concurrency, cancellation, retry, and persistent history.
Object workflows
The three-column browser keeps buckets, file listings, and object details together while common operations remain available from native menus and shortcuts.
Administration
Administrative controls appear only when the active application key has the required B2 capability.
Costs and failure modes
B2 charges for many list and administration requests. BlazeIt distinguishes cached information from fresh network work and keeps recovery controls visible.
Fresh bucket totals and cross-bucket searches walk object listings. The app labels that work as billable and asks before recalculating every bucket.
Controls are derived from the active key’s capabilities, so a read-only or bucket-restricted key does not pretend it can perform account-wide administration.
A completed download is staged beside its destination. When B2 provides a checksum, BlazeIt verifies the staged file before replacing an existing file.
Multipart upload state is persisted locally. BlazeIt refuses to resume if the source file changed, preventing old parts from being joined to different bytes.
Privacy & control
Application keys are stored in the device-local Keychain with iCloud synchronization disabled. BlazeIt contains no analytics, crash-reporting, or automatic-update SDK, and its logs explicitly exclude credentials, tokens, and file contents.
